About the Artist

My work explores what it means to live in today’s society as a survivor of sexual violence as well as the obstacles we experience daily. My paintings celebrate femmes by highlighting their healing journey, and to fight the stigma that surrounds sexual violence and trauma, I tell mine and others’ stories of abuse and struggle with mental health.

One in four girls will be molested before the age of eighteen, and as many as ninety percent will never speak about it. As someone who spent years in silence before speaking up, my artwork is the exact opposite of silent. I use bright colors, florals, and figurative elements to show the strength and beauty of the feminine spirit in efforts tohelp others feel empowered.

Despite the adversity, Femmes are resilient. We must continue to shareour stories, not only so we can work toward putting an end to these injustices, but so other survivors know they are not alone.
